ID Check
- The application will ask for an identity check for you to start following your training.
- When opening the first content, you will follow the steps for a complete ID check. Please have your identification documents ready.
After a period of inactivity, the platform will ask you to complete a new ID check by quickly scanning your face.

The identity verification experience you went through was powered by Persona.
Persona provides a powerful, secure platform to help organizations verify the identity of individuals online. They aim to build a safer and more accessible internet by helping organizations verify that their users are who they say they are.
What to do if you're having trouble verifying your identity with Persona
In case you need help from our support, open the menu on the top left corner of the app.
Click then on “Help desk”, to access the chatbot for knowledge base articles or support contact details.
I see a "Can't access your camera" error during ID Check
If you're using an iOS app
Allow Camera permissions
- Go to Settings on your device
- Go to Apps
- Find the app that you wish to enable camera permissions for
- Find the App Settings and allow camera permissions
Ensure Lockdown mode is off for the App
- Go to Settings on your device
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Under Security, go to Lockdown Mode
- Go to Configure Web Browsing
- Exclude the app from Lockdown Mode by turning that app off in the menu. Only apps that you have opened since enabling Lockdown Mode and which have limited functionality appear on this list
If you're using an Android app
Allow Camera permissions
- Go to Settings on your device
- Go to Apps
- Find the app that you wish to enable camera permissions for
- Find the App Settings and allow camera permissions
In case of ID check failure or issue
The platform is designed with user experience and completion rates in mind, offering multiple layers of guidance and fallback options at every step. When a user is unable to complete ID verification, Persona displays specific, actionable error messages directly within the verification flow.
These messages are tailored to the exact reason for failure, so users are never left guessing what went wrong. Examples of the guidance shown include:
- "Make sure all text is clear to read and not blurry."
- "Reduce glare by moving away from direct light."
- "Please submit an unexpired government ID."
- "Selected country does not match the country of ID."
These prompts include a "Retry" button, allowing the user to immediately correct the issue and resubmit. Users are not penalized after a single failed attempt. The flow typically allows up to 3 attempts (the number of attempts can be configured based on your client’s requirements) per verification step. This gives users the opportunity to correct issues related to image quality, lighting, or document type.
Persona's in-flow tips address all common failure categories:
- ID Document Submission:
- Ensure text on the ID is clear and readable
- Avoid glare by stepping away from direct light
- Ensure the full ID is visible and not obstructed by fingers
- Avoid blurry or low-quality images
- Selfie / Biometric Capture:
- Remove glasses
- Ensure face is well-lit and fully visible
- Turn head left and right as instructed
- Avoid glare from lighting
Is Persona GDPR compliant?
Persona is GDPR and CCPA compliant, which means they've implemented a robust privacy program that includes secure data transfer and processing practices. They also achieved SOC 2 Type II at the end of 2019. They have an intake process for data subject rights requests, continuous privacy impact assessments, secure data transfer and storage, and privacy and cookie policies reviewed by external legal counsel. They also maintain records of processing as both a controller and processor.
How does Persona encrypt and store data collected from end users?
Persona encrypts sensitive data at rest using AES-256 encryption and industry standard tokenization and hashing. Each data element is encrypted using an AES-256 cipher with a unique initialization vector and an encryption key that is rotated on a regular basis. All data in transit through the Persona web application uses Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) forced using TLS 1.2 or higher to ensure confidentiality of web sessions.
Their database and technical infrastructure are hosted within SOC 2 and ISO accredited data centers. Physical security controls at their data centers include 24/7 monitoring, cameras, visitor logs, and entry requirements.
